Lazy Daisy Baby Blanket

I came across the pattern for this blanket a while back while I was browsing the internet for baby blanket patterns, and the colors and stitch really caught my eye.

Thanks to LULU KNITS for posting the pattern and color scheme for this blanket. If anyone is interested, it can be found here.

I did make a few modifications, I CO 110 stitches, and decided upon 1x1 ribbing instead of garter. To incorporate this, I decreased 1 stitch (K2tog) at the beginning of the daisy stitch pattern, and then increased 1 (M1) before I began the final rows of 1x1 ribbing.

For this blanket, I choose Lily Sugar n' Cream cotton yarn in 4 colors: light blue, tangerine, yellow and ecru. I used US 7 (4.5mm) needles for the ribbing, and switched to US 10 (6.0) mm needles for the daisy pattern. I used metal needles as the daisy stitch can be a bit tricky to do, and I was afraid my bamboo needle might break from the strain of it.

Now, I just have to wrap the blanket up and get it to the post office. This is a surprise for a friend of mine who is expecting a baby boy. I hope she likes it!
